Cam Busch Art for Health Lecture 2013

The Memorial Health Care System Foundation will host the 13th Annual Cam Busch Endowed Arts for Health Lecture Series on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Robert Lynch, president and CEO, Americans for the Arts, and Anita Boles, director of the Global Alliance for Arts & Health will be the keynote speakers.

Robert Lynch is the president and CEO of Americans for the Arts, the national organization dedicated to advancing the arts and arts education in people's lives, schools, and communities. With more than 30 years of experience in the arts industry, Mr. Lynch is motivated by his personal mission to empower communities and leaders to advance arts and arts appreciation in society. Mr. Lynch plays the piano, mandolin, and guitar, and lives in Washington, DC.

Anita Boles, MPA, has served as the executive director of the Global Alliance for Arts & Health (formerly the Society for the Arts in Healthcare) since 2007. The Global Alliance is an international membership organization working to advance the arts in health, healing, and healthcare. Prior to her current position, Anita served for over 25 years as an executive in health and human service-related nonprofit and government agencies. Also a visual artist, she is passionate about approaching health and healing creatively by bringing the arts to people at key moments of their lives.

The purpose of the lecture series is to acquaint the community with the importance of art in the healing process. Over the past 12 years, this series has had the privilege of hosting well-known artists, musicians, poets, performing artists and academics from around the country. The 2013 event will be no exception.

The event begins at 6:00 pm at the Hunter Museum of American Art with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. The presentation, an engaging conversation between Lynch and Boles on the role arts play in our communities, will begin at 6:15 pm and the event will end at 8:00.
